The Farol da Ferraria, located at the westernmost point of São Miguel, Ponta da Ferraria, began operating in 1901. Set atop an 18-metre-high square tower and in the centre of a two-storey building, the lighthouse guides navigation along the island’s north-western coast. In addition to this function, it offers a breathtaking view of the ocean and the Ferraria geothermal area, making it a popular tourist attraction.
