These are the oldest pineapple greenhouses in the Azores, dating back to the 19th century. They were started by Dr. Augusto Arruda, who transformed an old family property into one of the most important pineapple plantations on the island. Here, we find greenhouses with different stages of fruit growth, which takes an average of 18 months to be ready for consumption.
